When to go and how to get there
The season runs from May to October, with July and August the peak months. Access is via Girona-Costa Brava airport or Barcelona airport, just over an hour by road. It is a coast of small coves: for large groups, the villas with the most bedrooms should be booked early.
Where to rent a villa on the Costa Brava
The most sought-after stretch runs from Begur to Palafrugell: the coves of Aiguablava, Sa Tuna and Sa Riera, and the old fishing villages of Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc and Tamariu, with houses set over rock and pine. To the north, Cadaqués and Cap de Creus offer a wilder landscape; to the south, S'Agaró and Platja d'Aro combine wide beaches with services, and Tossa de Mar keeps its walled old town. Inland, the Baix Empordà holds restored farmhouses with pools among fields and medieval villages such as Pals or Peratallada, ideal for large groups.
