When to go and how to get there
High season runs from December to April; June to November is hurricane season. Barbados has direct flights from London and the United States; St Barths is reached by small plane or by boat from Saint-Martin.
Where to rent a villa in the Caribbean
St Barths, with Gustavia, Saint-Jean and Gouverneur, is the island of the most discreet villas and the best food. Barbados holds the great beach houses on the west coast, between Sandy Lane, Holetown and Speightstown. Antigua and Mustique offer private estates with full staff; Turks and Caicos, white-sand beaches such as Grace Bay; and in the Dominican Republic, Casa de Campo and Punta Cana combine golf, marina and staffed villas.
